A recent survey conducted by London Block Exchange (LBX), the only multi-cryptocurrency exchange of UK, showed that there’s a growing interest among women wanting to invest in cryptocurrencies.
Opinium Research LLP conducted the research on the behalf of LBX between May 13 and May 17 , 2018. The last study was carried out from December 4 to 7, 2017. The number of women willing to invest in the crypto world has doubled in just six months i.e from 6% to over 13% currently. For millennials, this figure is higher, with one out of 5 i.e., 20% of millennial women.

The tech world in general is dominated by male figures. With the inception of cryptocurrencies, the field seemed to promise fair chances to everyone regardless of gender. But sadly the reality is still a bit disappointing. Though with the current trend the future seems promising. Certainly it is no longer going to be ‘Blockchain bros’.
The study also reflects the levelled out interest of men in cryptocurrency investments. While women seem to be the ‘growth audience’ for cryptocurrencies, men’s interest seems to remain more or less the same.
Furthermore, it suggests that, women are 50% less likely to make irrational decisions and are not very prone to the fear of missing out (FOMO).
Perianne Boring (founder and president of the Chamber of Digital Commerce) , one of the “10 Most Influential People in Blockchain 2016” of CoinDesk, says that women can introduce more awareness regarding cryptocurrencies because they’re naturally good communicators.
The gender diversity of the crypto ecosystem is rapidly increasing. Also, ICOs are proving to be good avenues for women who wish to enter in blockchain and crypto world because they are backed by a public white paper that can be purchased by anyone.
Quoting Jenna Seiden (Head of Content Acquisition, Ultra),
“Women will continue to thrive in the crypto space as we see more women taking the main stage at conferences, lead local meetups, and be celebrated for bringing the technology into their businesses,” Seiden said. “There are already female role models in the space even for me to look up to when in the past I’ve had to search for such inspiration.”
